We meet in San Diego mid November and begin the Baja Divide

Phase 3

After sailing or ferrying across to mainland Mexico, we'll pick up the Surf Trailer and slowly pick our way down the Pacific coast of Central America

Phase 4

Leaving the surfboards and trailer in Panama, we'll continue biking to Tierra del Fuego, Argentina.

Meet the Team

a Canadian couple on the journey of our dreams

Rylie Denis

From Kamloops, British Columbia

I grew up deep in the ski-bike culture of BC, but always felt drawn to surfing. I spent time learning my way around the waves in Australia and Instructed in Tofino. More recently I have earned a diploma in Adventure guiding, and reconnected with my passions for art and languages.

I've always wanted to embark on a journey worth writing about, one that requires connection with the land and the people who steward it.

From Knowlton, Quebec

Heya! I'm a Canadian ski patroller, tree planter and environmental advocate. With an Adventure Guiding diploma and a deep love for movement and exploration, I’m driven to embark on a journey that challenges and enhances my connection with the world around me.

We want to use our outreach to protect land, giving back to the earth that gives us so much. Learn more about our conservation efforts below!

The first project we're fundraising for is located on South Sulawesi island, Indonesia. The goal is to turn this 66 thousand hectare region into a National Park. Help us reach our goal by donating below!

The Trailhead

One of our main goals in this expedition is to explore how we can give back to the land. We have partnered with Conserve.org to raise funds for global conservation imperatives, which are areas most critical to preventing imminent species extinction. Conserve.org works with local initiatives to fund the permanent protection of threatened biodiversity.

🌿How does it work?

Projects are proposed by local community partners through slow discussions about biodiversity value, intactness and feasibility.
After review, each site is listed with clear donation options and donors can select an acre to fund via a tax-deductible donation.
The full donation is passed on to the local non-profit via a secure payment system, with at least a 100% match to all donations from matching foundations that have similar interests.
Donations are restricted to land protection only, with Conserve covering the transaction fees and providing tax receipts, and local partners managing the legal conservation process. You will receive updates on the location as it moves into permanent protection status.

Throughout our expedition, we will be exploring this pillar of community-led conservation. We look forward to giving you more information on how we can make an impact, with collected donations going directly to permanent land protection.

it feels nice to share moments with a travel companion

we were taken in for the weekend, and lived the life of kings for a few days before a big ride through the desert

the nights are warmer too, is it too soon to say we escaped the snow…?

I think about The Lorax a lot.

How do we make people in power care? How do we empower those who do care?

Just a small snapshot of what I’ve been rolling through the past weeks in Indonesia.

Searching for answers, aching for the earth.

All dressed up to oil my chain. My mom insisted on buying me this shirt for special occasions along the journey, though every day so far has felt like a special occasion. I’m finding ritual in maintaining my gear/my home/my everything. When I hop on my saddle I’m grateful for the folks who helped to make this set up as comfortable and as tough as it is. Bikes are beautiful beasts, a cool way to connect and an unbeatable way to explore a country, highs, rock bottom and everything inbetween.

October is cold here. (who would have guessed?! hehe)
I woke up to a thin layer of frost and a frozen water bottle. I should have kept it in my sleeping bag overnight.
The moon was so bright that every time I woke up to add some layers I thought it was morning already.

The sun will feel extra special today 🌞

Denpasar, Bali 💌 Kuta, Lombok

My eyes were mostly glued to the road, hands firm on my bars. First up the east of Bali then down the west of Lombok, I was gunning it for the south where surf was the promised reward. Visions of this route still flash in my eyelids as I lie to sleep, traffic in organised chaos, dodging roadside chickens, warm smiles from those lying under shade, taking the hand of motorists slowing down beside me.

I disassembled my surf rack and strapped it to my panniers to squeeze through the traffic, drank boat loads of water and had the occasional break down on the steps of markets and alleyways.

Grateful for curiosity, cold drinks and the embrace of the ocean as I reached the south.

Kindness is currency.
The Llama ranch is famous in the bikepacking world. Its a genuine retreat along the Great Divide, where John and Barbara offer everything you need in exchange for kindness. A pay it forward type of exchange. I spent the afternoon basking in the magic of this place. Thank you both🫶
